HOW DOES IT WORK?
JULIE&JULIA IN HET KURHAUS IN SCHEVENINGEN
HOW DOES IT WORK?
WHAT YOU SEE IS WHAT YOU EAT
Some films you shouldn't just see, you should taste them! At Cinema Culinair you watch films such as Chef, Julie & Julia, Tampopo or La Grande Bouffe and eat exactly the same dishes as in the film. Accurate to the second, so what you see is what you eat. You cannot experience a film more intense than this. Enjoy it with all your senses.
FILM & DINNER EVENT
At the events you can enjoy a film and a dinner in beautiful halls, such as the Kurhaus in Scheveningen and the WTC in Rotterdam. With a large movie screen, good sound, small tables and delicious dishes prepared by the chef. After reception, the light is dimmed and the film starts. A short time before each eating moment in the film, everyone gets the same dish. Then a banner appears that counts down: 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 and then you taste. We do that about six to seven times in the film. See what you eat. Eat what you see.
FILM & DINNER TAKE AWAY
At our take away dinners you can enjoy your film and dinner at home. Just the way you want it. With your own TV, your favorite chair and dishes prepared by the chef of a top restaurant. You pick up your dinner at the restaurant in the afternoon and stream the film at home. The dishes are numbered and have a time code, so you know exactly when to pause the film. Just heat it up, put it nicely on a plate and taste it. Together with your family or friends. Or alone.

Answer: Yes, this can be done in two ways. Check the gift page for all possible gift options.
CAN WE SIT NEXT TO OUR FRIENDS?
Answer: Of course! Guests sit side by side per order. If you bought tickets separately, please mention your friends name / order number and we will place you together. This can be done with the order or afterwards by email, up to 2 days before the show.
ARE DRINKS INCLUDED?
Answer: A welcome drink is included, but other drinks are not. You can order drinks before the film and during the intermission. You can pay after the show with PIN or cash.
A FOOD ALLERGY, WHAT NOW?
Answer: "What you see is what you eat" is our motto. Unfortunately the concept does not allow custom menus. If you have an allergy, check the show's menu beforehand to see if it is suitable. We advise you to skip the specific courses or to swap a dish with your table companion. If you only have to do that for 1 or 2 courses, we advise you to come and enjoy. Are you in doubt? Mail us and we will give you honest personal advice.
Do you have questions or did you not receive a confirmation mail / invoice? Mail to email@example.com and we will answer your question as quickly as possible. And always take a look at the page HOW DOES IT WORK?.

ARE THE DISHES WARM?
Answer: No, the dishes are packaged cold. Some dishes are eaten cold, others lukewarm or warm. You can heat it up yourself.
An A4 paper is included with the instruction email (and also printed with the package). It states which simple actions you still have to carry out per dish, how long that will take and at what time you have to serve it (for cold dishes: unpack and eat, warm dishes must be heated up in the pan, oven or microwave).
PS: most people pause the film at every eating moment.
WHAT KIND OF EQUIPMENT DO I NEED AT HOME?
Answer; To heat the dishes at home, we advise you to use a microwave and / or oven and frying pan. The instruction A4 states per dish how long and at how many degrees. If you don't have a microwave: use a warm oven and warm the dish covered in an oven dish.
IS THE MOVIE FOR FREE OR IS IT ON NETFLIX?
Answer: Check where you can stream via film.nl, a very nice overview site. The options are always different for each film title, and for each title we have specified the options on the relevant film page.
HOW DO I STREAM A FILM?
Only on your computer, pad or phone
The film can easy be played within the browser.
On your smart tv
It depends a lot on the brand and age of your smart TV (and on the specific film) whether you can stream the film directly via an app in your smart TV platform. Many TVs from after 2016 have apps for Youtube, Google Play, Apple TV, Vimeo, Videoland or Pathé Thuis. See if one of your apps is mentioned with the film in question, then you can watch the film from within the app.
HDMI cable between computer / pad / telephone and TV
You can connect your computer to the TV with an HDMI cable so that you can see the computer screen on your TV.
Chromecast from computer / pad / phone to TV
Do you have a Chromecast, then you can usually cast the film straight from an app on your phone or pad or from the browser screen to your TV. If that doesn't work, you can go for the free VLC player download and try casting the link or file from VLC to your Chromecast.
Problem with iTunes
Casting directly from iTunes to Chromecast is sometimes not possible due to DRM protection. You can then mirror your Apple phone screen to Chromecast via this free app
Apple TV or Samsung smart TV
These brands have resp. Apple TV / iTunes and Samsung Mirroring to directly play or mirror the film with your phone or pad.
