Watch a film and eat what you see in the film at the same time. Not at home or in the cinema, but at our new location: the super nice Keilepand in Rotterdam! With large film screens, good sound and delicious dishes, prepared by the chef of our cool partner Kantien. Enjoy with all your senses, because – to be honest – you should not just see and hear this film. You also have to smell, taste and feel it. What you see is what you eat. Accurate to the second with the actors in the film.

GOOD FILM

Estômago (Marco Jorge, 2007) takes you to a raw and sultry Brazil. A mysterious chef, a seductive hooker, divine food and an exciting story about power, pure passion, gastronomy, eroticism and a crime of passion. It is not for nothing that this cult film was (almost) the public favorite of the Rotterdam Film Festival.

The film is Portuguese spoken and Dutch subtitled
On Thursday March 2nd, the film is subtitled in ENGLISH.

The film is all about food. We have selected the best of the 20 dishes from the film, from Italian and Brazilian cuisine.

MENU

PASTEL

A Brazilian pie with minced meat, pepper and garlic, the dough is made with a dash of Cachaca. With a green sweet and sour salad.
Vega: vegetarian minced meat replaces the meat.

COXINHA

The coxinha is Brazil's most characteristic snack: the pear-shaped snack with chicken & cheese. There is a fresh beetroot salad.
Vega: Vegetarian chicken pieces replace the meat.

CHICKEN WITH COCONUT RICE*

Superlekker gerecht met kip en rozemarijn. De rijst is aangemaakt met ui, knoflook, hazelnoten, limoensap, peterselie en kokosmelk.
Vega: Vegetarian chicken pieces replace the meat.

PASTA PUTTANESCA

The 'climax' of the film, this classic pasta with spicy tomato sauce with anchovies, capers, black olives, parsley and lots of garlic. 
Vegetarian: Anchovies are replaced by dried porcini mushrooms.

CARPACCIO

A refined dish of raw tenderloin, oil and vinegar, arugula, with capers and Parmesan cheese.
Vega: Carpaccio van rode biet vervangt de ossenhaas.

ANITA E GARIBALDI

The signature dish of the chef from the film: a dessert of guava paste and gorgonzola. We made a quirky crème brulée from the guava paste.

LITTLE STEAK

Vega: knolselderij steak.

GREAT TIMING

What you see is what you eat, at the same time. The culinary script of Cinema Culinair is leading for the chef and his crew: timing is of the essence.

Good film + good food + great timing. The point is in the latter. One example. When Iria tastes the coxinha at minute 20, you will do the same. One minute earlier or later makes all the difference between good and fabulous! In the end it’s all about the extrasensory sensation; you see, hear, taste, smell and feel the film.

GREAT LOCATION

We're very proud to land at the fantastic Keilepand in the Rotterdam M4H harbour area. A former vegetable and fruit dock has been renovated and hosts creative industries, food entrepeneurs and a beautiful venue, ideally suited for Cinema Culinair.
